The Mid 80's Pirates. Cont...

My favorite buc as a kid..Johnny Ray.Strange how I feel closer to these teams from watching this shitty, shitty 2006 Team

The Mid 80's Pirates.

If there is one thing that, IMO, is worse than the current Bucs, it's those mid 80's Bucs..Well, I'm going to take a little time to pay homage here..starting with one of my favorites.

http://www.sixtolezcano.com/

Check out his site..maybe buy an autographed card for 4 bucks. C'mon ya cheapskate!

In other Good News....

4 months ago, Chris Duffy was the next Andy Van Slyke. Then this guy came along(right) and changed his swing and stance to be more of a leadoff. Today Chris Duffy, age 26, is considering retirement.

Post Gazette: "The stress from faltering in the early part of the season had taken a sharp toll on Duffy, the sources said, to the point that he had become tightly wound on and off the field and had questioned his desire to continue his career.

In stark contrast, one of the sources said, Duffy was describing relief bordering on joy shortly after deciding not to report to Class AAA Indianapolis when the Pirates optioned him there May 14."

Jim Tracy: further ruining baseball in Pittsburgh

40 plus games into his Pirates tenure and Jim Tracy has garnered "wost manager in my lifetime" status..which is no small feat considering the man he replaced..His Pet players from his 2004 Dodgers, Burnitz and Hernandez, look as though they have taken baseball lessons from the 1919 Blacksox..they have been, with exception to Derek Bell and maybe Chris Stynes, the worst Pirates i've seen since the mid 80's..and they are either playing every day or getting key late game AB's

Tracyball is what it was called in March..a good eye at the plate, taking walks, not striking out and baseball fundamentals driven into the players heads...Bullshit. none of this has happened. He has shit for baseball brains

"The Wheels have fallen off."

John Wehners words..not mine. Mine would have had more F words in it..

So Ollie Perez pitches shutout ball for 6 and gives way to Marte..In the eighth, tie game, the Dbacks have 2nd and 3rd with one out..They hit a fly ball to right field that Burnitz drops, scoring a run. E9 if your scoring.. Next batter K's which would have ended the inning..but instead comes Craig Counsell who meekly hits back to the pitcher.. who wildly throws past 1b into rightfield, wherethen Burnitz goes to pick up the ball, and promptly falls on his ass, ball bouncing past him to score 2 runs.

This sequence summarizes the 2006 Pittsburgh Pirates

Raising the spirits of Josh Gibson and his fellow Homestead Grays..The Bucs propelled by 4 Long balls, 2 by Jason Bay, help overcome Ian Snells shaky 5 innings of pitching.

McClouth lead off the Game with a solo shot with Castillo adding one as well

Twinnies ballpark approved

A big Huzzah! for the Twins as they landed there long overdue Stadium.

Sabathia Dominant in Bucs Loss..

ya know..I live in MN, my wife is a Red Sox fan so instead of always writing about the Bucs Losing...I think i'll start writing about the Twinnies and Bosox as well..just to keep things positive

Freddy Sanchez, my choice for our lone All star spot, jacked a nice HR for the only run of the game

Bucs Squander 6 -0 lead; lose to Redstockings

I'm blessed that this was a day game and therefore unable to watch. Bay connects for a Grand Slam, Freddy Sanchez goes 3-5 to up his BA to an astounding .345 (the same Sanchez who Mgr Jim Tracy refused to start over Joe Randa, despite the Visible gap in talent)besides that....pretty much stunk

In other news..OF Chris Duffy refuses his minor league assignment

Bronson Arroyo: Professional Ballplayer and Amateur Fuckstick.

When he's not making us wince by doing the "white boy corn row thing" (Right) or pressuring someone into listening to his shitty music..Bronson Arroyo makes dumbass comments.."If I can't stand on the mound and feel comfortable against that lineup, then something's wrong with me," Arroyo said shortly after giving up four runs in six innings to the Pittsburgh Pirates. Was it this level of stupidity that jettisoned Bronson from Boston? If you don't remember, Arroyo played the sucker, signed for a hometown discount because he wanted to stay in Boston, and the Sox immediately traded him.

Bucs Win! 2 (two) straight for the home team

Freddy Sanchez goes 3-5 with 3 RBIies to lead the team..Oliver Perez, on air, when asked about his hitting says, "I squeeze my ass and swing the bat." Good fer him, Go Get em Ollie!

Peezy Critiques US Policy..Could a run for PA Govenor be in the near future?

Joey Porter, Shy..somewhat reserved linebacker, made comments that critiqued Pres Bush' policy...Pollsters are calling it a "triumph" and a "coming out party" for the next great Politician in PA

Bucs Win! Burnitz breaks Mendoza Line

Huzzah! Jeromy Burnitz, whipping boy to all 60 Pirates fans remaining..breaks through with a 3 - 5 effort including 4 RBIies. Tomorrow, Ollie Perez is pitching to stay in the majors..But that's tommorow..today is Burnitz' day!

Day Off..Bucs don't lose!

Burnitz doesn't strike out or hit into any DP's.

Mother's Day Massacre

Snell gets hammered early n often..Fish jump out to 8 - nothin lead after 2 innings..Thats my cue to do some errands. WTF?? Of note:

Duffy optioned to AAA, Edwards called up, just what are offense needs is the talents of Mike Edwards.

Bucs off to 2nd worst start since the 19th Century, When they were called the Alleghenies

Freddy Sanchez went 3-3 to raise his average to .319

Think happy thoughts

Santonio Holmes and the Steelers are back for minicamp

Bucs whiff 12 times, come up empty..again

The race for the 2007 1st Overall pick is really heating up now with a Marlins win..the Royals, Bucs and Fish are in a dead heat.

With the Pirates down by 2 in the sixth , Bay singles, followed by a mammoth RBI Triple to dead center by Craig Wilson. So, down by one, man on third, nobody out...with Triple crown threat J Burnitz coming to the plate..He Whiffs?!?!? Who Would've predicted that! Followed by Paulino and Castillo.

Burnitz followed this up, defensively, with a foul ball that popped out of his glove in right. The hits just keep on coming for this guy. In better news, Sean Casey is a few weeks ahead of schedule on his rehab..which will put Craig Wilson back on the bench.....or in a Yankee uniform

Astros stockpiling Pirates castoffs?

The Corpus Christi Hooks have a few familiar names in there lineup..

Walter Young: The Next Willie Stargell?

JR House: The Next Drew Henson?

Josh Bonifay: The Next Pirates GM ?

Sorry..I'll try harder next time, bub

Burnitz, our big pickup in the Pirates Free Agent Frenzy, Apologizes for his lazy running, Manny Ramirez style, on a routine groundout.. Burnitz is #2 with a bullett as worst FA pickup, but will be hard pressed to surpass my man Derek Bell

Bucs Win!! Burnitz 5 LOB's

One of the oddest games of the year..Marlins jump out to 5-0 lead in the first, Bucs storm back to take a 9-5 lead, only to squander in 8th 9-9..Then reclaim with a nice 3 run bottom of the 8th to take a 12-9 lead..sealed off with your average, ho hum 37 pitch save by Gonzo.

Burnitz, somehow, singled with the bases loaded..then managed to get caught, with Craig Wilson, in a 9-3-5-6-4-3-8 Double play run down...how the hell do 2 baserunners get caught in a rundown in the Major Leagues?..But plenty of Good offense, Bay hitting a bases loaded, 2 out Triple and Ronnie Paulino, one of the bright spots of this terrible team, coming through with a 2 run single in the 8th.of course we're playing the Marlins, who are involved in there 3rd Firesale of competent MLB Players.

Brace Yourself....Bucs lose

I know, I find it hard to believe as well

Burnitz: 0 - 5 5 LOB's struck out on 3 pitches with tying runs on base in 9th

Bay: hanging out with Burnitz too much.... 6 LOB's.... just playing terrible Baseball

Bucs - Dbacks Game 2

Maholm on the Mound tonight..Hoping for another solid outing from the young three of late. According to the PPG, Ollie Perez has one more shot at rectifying his status as a starter here with tomorrows outing. Doumit and Jack Wilson are day to day with sore Hammies..which opens up more chances for Bautista and Freddy. It would be a blessing from heaven if i tune into the game tonight and don't see Burnitz' name in the Lineup

Bucs Win 3 Zip

Sanchez, Poulino and Snell are the heroes..Burnitz' trade stock rises slightly
